” SOFT FACTS ABOUT SOFTWARE INDUSTRY ”
Everyone is fascinated about this industry ..Forget abt CS/IT and EC
guys even students from mechanical , EI and EN branch are eager to join
this sector and who knows after 4 or 5 yrs students after completing
their B.Pharma and M.Pharma heads towards the silicon valley or cyber
city of India. This is what called a strong impact of this sector over
the young engineers. But what do u people think do even 1% of these
people knows why they want to be a part of IT sector. Infact I have
asked this question several times to my friends and they replied me
with a soft voice ”It’s a booming industry”..that’s it and a long
silence after that which I usually break by saying “Oh that’s great”
but what do u people think is this much sufficient and I know your
answer will be NO…so I thought lets share some soft facts about this
software industry and that’s where my main article starts. Lets begin
with some investment and growth rate. Our darling is growing at a rate
of 26% which exports $30 bn and by 2010 it will reach $60 bn. It
contributes around 8% to GDP (gross domestic product, of India is $900
bn for the fiscal year 2006-07) making it $72 bn and sum of revenue of
top three companies , i.e., TCS, Infosys and Wipro is $11 bn which is
really a whopping figure.
Currently India has about four per cent of the global IT market.
According to a NASSCOM-McKinsey report, annual revenue projections for
India’s IT industry in 2008 are $ 87 billion and market openings are
emerging across four broad sectors which are IT services, software
products, IT enabled services, and e-businesses.
IT Exports accounts for 30% of the total exports from India. IT
industry attracts Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of $ 4-5 billion.
India’s domestic IT market spend is growing at rate of 21% n will
touch $17 bn. For every 1 job created in IT-ITES industry,4 more jobs
r created in rest of the economy and that’s how 1.3 mn people r
working in it n 5.2 r connected to it indirectly by 2009. Well I think
this much amount of information is more than sufficient for people who
are about to hug their darling. There is a proverb “If u really possess
soft skills and uses your soft hands on your keypad with a soft
approach and provide soft solutions to your soft clients u can really
make soft bucks in a software company” now this quote deserves a
soft smile …and u might be thinking who said this but sorry folks even
I don’t know who’s that person whose name is written at the bottom of
this article, but at last now you people can say …
“ Oh that’s great “
