” PROGRESS REPORT ”

It is a great pleasure for me to present progress report of the institute. The institute was established in the year 2000 by Late Shri Raj Kumar Goel Ji with an intake of 180 in three branches of the B.Tech programme. In a short span of seven years, dimension of the institute increased manifolds. Now, it is running MBA programme with 120 intake, MCA programme with 60 intake, B. Pharm. Programme with 60 intake and B. Tech programme with 420 intake in six branches, namely, Computer Science & Engg., Information Technology, Electronics& Communication Engg., Electrical & Electronics Engg., Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engg. and Mechancial Engg.. Against this intake, 120 students in MBA, 54 students in MCA, 60 students in B. Pharma and 416 students in B. Tech are admitted in the present academic session 2007-08. Presently, there are 2309 students (Regular-2266 & Ex-43) are studying at the institute. In addition to the regular programmes, the institute is a Study Centre of U. P .Technical University Lucknow for M. Pharm. and Sequential M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering in which 38 students in M. Pharm. and 20 students (faculty members of other institutions) in M. Tech. are studying. The institute is in process of increasing intake of MCA from 60 to 120.

The institute admitted good students, both through the SEE Counseling and the management quota. In the present academic session 2007-08, the rank of the first open category student admitted in B. Tech. was 1005 and most of the students admitted had rank well below 9800. The management quota admission were made on merit basis and majority of these students have marks in PCM above 65%. The lowest and highest ranks of students admitted in MBA were 670 and 2098, in MCA 723 and 1262 and in B. Pharma. 209 and 1579 respectively. The result of final year students during the academic years 2005, 2006 and 2007 has been very good. The result of B. Tech was 91% in 2005, 91.5% in 2006 and 97% in 2007. In the year 2006-07, 301 students were placed in Ist division and 27 with honors. The result of MBA was 96% in 2005, 94% in 2006 and 100% in 2007. In MCA the result was 96% in 2005, 93% in 2006 and 97.6% in 2007. The result of immediate past odd semester is also encouraging. The B. Tech. first year result is 75.6%, second year 83.71%, third year 87.38% and fourth year 92.83%. In MBA the result of first year is 82% and second year 97%. In MCA, the result of first year is 68.4%, second year 98.2% and third year 94%. In the result of MCA third semester our institute secured Ist position among self financed institutions and second position in all the institutions affiliated to the University. Our five final year B. Tech. students and one final year MCA student secured University ranks in the year 2004-05. Similarly, in the year 2005-06 four students secured University ranks. Out of these Ms. Bhoomika Bathla and Mr. Amber Kumar secured first position in the university in first and second years respectively.

The institute is well aware that mere class room teaching is not sufficient for the overall personality development of the students. In globalization scenario of the industry today professional need soft skills, like oral and written communication, project writing, group working and leadership quality etc. in addition to hard skills. Here professional societies play a dominant role in the development of adequate professional competence. To cater such needs, a Student Branch of Computer Society of India and a Student Chapter of Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) India have been established on 22-09-2007 and 04-02-2008 respectively. Recently our 52 students took student membership of world renowned professional Body, IEEE (U.S.A.) and R.K.G.I.T. student Branch of IEEE is likely to start functioning very soon.

The institute also realizes importance of extra- curricular activities for physical and creative development of the students. Fresher Function is organized every year which is exclusively performed by the first year students to make them realized the importance of extra-curricular activities. To organize such activities in a systematic manner, the Student Activity Council (SAC) is established in the present academic session. It consists of four Councils namely, Sports, Cultural, Literary and Hobby club. For every student, it is compulsory to participate in the activities of at least two Councils. The institute has good infrastructure and provides all necessary facilities for performing various activities of all the Councils. All in house games competitions, like, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Carrom, Chess etc. were completed and the Annual Sports Meet was organized on 8th and 9th March, 2008 in which more than 1000 students (boys & girls) participated in various athletic competitions like, track events, throws, jumps and Tug of war. Mr. Shiv Bhadur of B.Tech. Second year and Ms. Manju Rani of B. Tech. final year have been declared best athlete of the year. The Annual function of Hobby club is scheduled on 28th March, 2008 in which inter college Technical function (Tech. Fest), Jagriti will be held. Annual function of Cultural Council and Literary Council will be held in second week of April, 2008. In March 2007 Inter College Tech- Fest Jagriti- 07 was organized at the institute in which more than 1000 students from 52 institutions participated. We also encourage our students to participate in other institute competitions. In Robot competitions held in 2007, our students participated at N.S.I.T. New Delhi and won first and second Prizes, at B.B.D.I.T. Ghaziabad won first prize, at I.G.I.T. New Delhi won first three prizes, at I.P.E.C. Ghaziabad won first prize, and recently at H.B.T.I. Kanpur won first prize. In Encore, 2007 held at B.B.D.I.T. Ghaziabad our students won first prizes in 13 events and second prizes in 06 events. In Inter College Fest at I.M.S.Ghaziabad our students won 3 prizes in Extempore and Dance competitions, at N.S.I.T. New Delhi won two prizes in Hindi Debate and Extempore at K.N.M.I.E.T. Modinagar won 7 prizes in 4 events.

The institute is conscious and feels responsibility to provide placement opportunities to students. We have a well staffed training & placement department headed by a Professor having long industrial experience. Some famous companies like Infosys, Wipro, I flex, NIIT Technology, Sapient, L & T, L & T Infotech, Huawai, Keane, Mphasis, Munjal Showa, J. B. Maruti, Rico Auto etc. visited the institute for placement. In addition to this, the institute provides facilities to students to participate in Pool Placement activities at other institutions. Now a days, companies need proficiency of students in soft skills, such as, arithmetic, logic, reasoning, oral and written communication in addition to technical expertise. Therefore, to make our students competent a Personality development Expert is employed, who conducts regular, as well as company oriented aptitude classes. For this purpose a provision of such classes is made in the Time- Table. The institute has also employed a training & placement consultant who specially puts emphasis on group discussion, mock interviews etc. These steps resulted in drastic improvement in the placement of students. Till this time, 171 students of final year & 58 of third year have been placed. We set a target to increase the placement by atleast 30% in next year. The institute puts high emphasis on quality improvement of Teachers and accordingly several steps have been taken. The faculty members are encouraged to improve their academic qualifications like, M. Tech. & Ph. D. They are paid full TA/DA & registration fee for presenting their research paper in seminars/ conferences and also for attending the short term courses and workshops. Owing to these steps taken by the institute, three faculty members have been awarded Ph. D. degree & four are enrolled. Seventeen faculty members have been awarded M. Tech. degree and sixteen are enrolled. The faculty members published twenty research papers in Journals and 111 in national / international conferences.79 faculty members have been sent for attending workshops, in last three years. Prof B. K. Gupta, Advisor of the institute and Prof. Ashish Soti qualified Six Sigma Black Belt from KPMG, India on Six Sigma Training and Development in 2007. Thirty lectures / invited talks of visiting faculty / resource persons from different institutes/ companies have been arranged in the institute on various topics to have better institute – industry interaction. It has been observed that the young teachers need exposure of quality teaching to improve their confidence. Therefore, they are sent to attend workshops, exclusively, dedicated for teaching & Laboratory work. Recently, the institute also organized a workshop on Development of Strategies for Student Centric Teaching of Mechanical Engineering Course (TME-101/201) of B. Tech. Ist year students at the institute on Dec 15, 2007. In this workshop, 35 faculty members of various colleges participated. Besides the institute organized seven workshops and one seminar in last three years. Four faculty members have been invited to deliver Key Note address in conferences & seminars. Prof. Satendra Sharma delivered an invited talk on topic Interacting Boson Model & its Applications in the national conference, Emerging Trends in Physics held on Dec 17-19, 2007 at R. K. College, (L. N. Mithila University), Madhubani, Bihar. The institute puts emphasis on recruitment of quality faculty members and provides many incentives, like performance incentive increment, increments for acquiring M. Tech and Ph. D degrees, cash prize for publishing research papers in reputed national / international journals, cash prize and publicly honour for the best result in the subject taught to retain them. The institute pays DA at par with the State Govt. Employee Provident Fund scheme will be implement hardly very soon. Owing to these incentives, hardly 10% faculty left the institute in last one year. Recently, one sponsored Environmental Project, The development of technology for hydroponics feeder producing machine and system has been successfully completed by the departments of Pharmacy & Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with M/s Ayurvet Research Foundation of Dabur & Mahesh Dayanand Go- Samwardhan Kendra, Ghaziapur, Delhi under the leadership of Prof. B. K. Gupta, Advisor of the institute. In this project, nutritious feed for animals has been grown for the last several months at the rate of 10 kg/day/m2 with only 10% of the water that is used to grow equivalent amount in a field. The patent for the Machine & system has been applied. This technology is also being examined for other usages, such as exploring its possible use for making wheat straw digestible by animals. Though the institute has adequate infrastructure yet it is further strengthened. A four story MCA department building is on the verge of completion. 150 latest HP PCs are also being purchased which will enhance the quality of project work of students and also R & D activities of faculty members. The Microprocessor laboratory of Electronics & Communication Department is modernized. The institute has 2 MBPS Internet Connectivity taken from M/s. C.J. Online Pvt. Ltd. This facility is also extended to the boys and girls hostel through wi-fi connection. To cater the need of placement activities of students, a unique big Placement Hall of 890 Sqm area has been constructed. It has two big cubicles. Each of 276 sqm area in which about 600 students can sit for competitive examination. A Gymnasium Hall on the top floor of Placement hall is also about to complete. This hall will be useful to students for performing physical exercises and extra-curricular activities. Moreover, additional 500 students can also be accommodated for competitive examination as and when needed. A 336 seated Girls Hostel is completed and fully furnished in which 290 girl students are residing. Thereby, a need of girl students staying in the institute campus is fulfilled. Now the institute has hostel facility for 819 boys and 336 girls. A 380 KVA Diesel Generator set is also recently procured. It has strengthened the power backup facility. Students are now ensured to have round the clock power. Recently, Punjab National Bank has provided ATM facility to the institute which is functioning near the institute main gate. The problem of students going to city frequently is minimized. Founder Late Sri Raj Kumar Goel Ji was a great proponent of girls education and social welfare ;he started a Girls Degree College in Garh Mukteshwar and encouraged girls students in RKGIT also. Towards social welfare, he started free medical facilities to our students and for the neighboring villages. In addition, a mobile van with qualified doctor, nurse and medicines tours several villages daily. The Central Library of the institute is well furnished. It has collection of 5373 titles and 45108 books. In last three years, 1136 titles and 17092 books have been added. The book bank facility has been introduced from the last six-years in which every student gets one book per subject in each semester. 26 print journal and 30 print magazines are being subscribed. There are over 2100 CDs and 10 Video of books and magazines. The Library is fully computerized using Actif software with Barcode facility. Smart card facility is provided to both students and faculty members. We have Digital Library also in which access to 263 (IEEE/IEL-241, ASME-22) e-journals through the INDEST-AICTE CONSORTIUM is available. Besides, Management and Pharmacy Departments have their own Libraries. In Management Department, there are collection of 1131 titles and 7892 books. In last three years 618 titles and 4609 books have been added. Besides 30 print journals and 27 print magazines are being subscribed. In pharmacy Department, there are collection of 590 titles and 4834 books. 41 print journals and 15 print magazines are being subscribed. Besides, an access of 75 e-journals through INDEST-AICTE CONSORTIUM is available. The institute owns responsibility to inculcate human values among the students so that they should not only be the competent professionals but also have social responsibility. For this purpose various steps are taken from time to time. Every year academic session starts with Akhand Ramayan Path in which all faculty members and students participate. Blood donation camp was held on 04-11-06. The next Blood Donation Camp will be held very shortly. The institute observed the National Communal Harmony day on 6th October 2007, in which faculty members and students took pledge. On 150 year celebration of first Indian Independence War, our large number of students and faculty members welcomed the Independence group March,

1857 Jang-A-Azadi Sajhi Sahadat Sajhi Virasat

on 11th May, 2007 and distributed about ten thousand mineral water bottles to the participants . The institute realizes responsibility to assist the University in its functioning related to admission, examination and evaluation. It has been continuously online Counseling Centre for admission to students from the year 2004, when the on line counseling started. In addition, it has been Nodal Centre for Entrance Examinations as well as semester examinations and also Evaluation Centre for evaluation of answer books for most of the time. It is the credibility of the institute that the University entrusted faith on its efficient and transparent functioning. At the end, I would like to say that the institute is on the right track in achieving its academic and social objectives.

The cherished dream of our Founder Chairman, Late Sri Raj Kumar Goel Ji , was to build this institute as an ideal family where members strive for the development, well being and promotion of each other. With our emphasis on all round development of student, staff and faculty, the institute is firmly set to take long strides to reach zenith of excellence in the near future.
